Dangerous Chemicals

The Problem

PFAS, or Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances, are a group of man-made chemicals not occurring naturally in the environment.

These and other harmful chemicals started to be manufactured in the mid-1900’s to fabricate products that resist heat, oil, stains, and water, for example. They have come to be known as “forever chemicals” because they do not break down easily.

PFAS have contaminated water sources and soil, and have bioaccumulated in fish, wildlife, and the human population. The CDC reports that PFAS exposure “may affect reproduction, thyroid function, the immune system, and injure the liver.”

Additionally, traditional AFFF fire fighting foams containing PFAS have been linked to cancer and other serious health problems among firefighters.

PFAS Apparatus Remediation Program

This process cleans out AFFF sludge and residue from discharges and foam systems in a cost effective way, allowing for Non-Toxic foam replacement.
